1952 Gentry Fashions for Fall
The Shorter Length Topcoat. A new trend ... topcoats tailored slightly longer than knee-length, with body lines that give a slightly fitted
appearance. Usually favored in patterned fabrics, unobtrusive in
appearance.

At Yale Bowl, New Haven, Conn., double-breasted version features closely spaced buttons, flapped pockets, the often-seen change pocket. The pattern ... a narrow diagonal

At Belmont Park, N. Y., a single-breasted version features moderately broad shoulders, peak lapels, flapped pockets. The pattern is gained by diagonal weave.

At Palmer Stadium, Princeton, N. J., another single-breasted version features fly front, moderately narrow shoulders, semi-notch lapel, flap pockets. Again the extra change pocket.

The Silk Topcoat ... Soft to the hand ... rich to the eye ... giving the warmth desired. Another way in which silk is finding its way into the wardrobes of well-groomed men. Custom-tailored by Gary & Lampel Inc., New York, into this smart single-breasted town model, the fabric, loomed in this country by Roberson, utilizes Italian dupioni yarns to give a rough-textured hand-loomed impression. A subtle touch of extra luxuriousness ... the silk foulard lining ( shown in insert), Paisley-patterned in handsome ancient madder colorings.

Fabric : Camel hair ... Color : Deep Black Brown

A rarity among suitings ... luxuriousness personified ... a shade wearable by many men who usually avoid browns. The fabric ... loomed of choicest Himalayan camel hair, comfortably light in weight, soft and mellow to the hand, in keeping with the trend to semi-sports suits in town for office wear. Introduced exclusively in two-piece suits meticulously tailored by Lebow. In odd sport coats as well.

The Three Piece Suit

Reporting the start of a trend ...
a revived interest in suits with matching vests.

Suits with matching vests, absent from the wardrobes of many men since prior to World War II, are being observed worn again. These three-piece ensembles are generally seen in suits tailored from dressier worsted fabrics. As pictured here, majority favor them with single-breasted coats. Some double-breasted suit wearers, like elder statesman Bernard Baruch, pictured right, also favor them with this style.

Beaufort Castle, chief of the Lovats ... now occupied by the present
Lord Lovat( pictured on opposite page in the regalia of the Fraser Clan which he heads), seventeenth holder of title created in 1440. The rich group of colorings which are today known as lovats stem from the creation of protectivcolorings which originated in the mind of one of his early antecedents.

Approximately 10 colors are used to create the grey-green lovat shade of the Stroock Folkweave shown here. The original crofter manner of finishing in the open air gives it is soft handle. Available in suits, sport coats and topcoats tailored by freeman of Philadelphia.

The three-piece country suit with lapelled vest, checked tweed cap, brown brushed leather chukkas ... worn by noted sportsman F. Ambrose Clark.

Country clothes worn at the Radnor Hunt at Malvern, Pa. reflect the season's trend. Note close spacing of buttons on coat of gentleman at the right; the well proportioned cap, rounded pinned collar.

Country ensemble consisting of velour-finish Tryolean-shaped hat; pinned collar shirt; tie in ancient madder colorings; three-button coat and new-narrow-width flannel slacks.

For a country shirt... checked pattern in green lovat cast tailored by Hathaway from Viyella English flannel. The fabric ...55% lamb's wool, 45% Egyptian cotton ... is a comfortable weight for wear under a coat and is washable.

Suit coats, odd coats... feature straight lines, natural shoulder widths ad new deep center vents as shown here.Functional Clothes ... for devotees of hunting, shooting and field trials

A group of clothes ... to give the ultimate in comfort and protection ... designed through experience gained after years of servicing
international sportsmen. Custom-tailored to individual order by Meyers of Philadelphia. Richard E. Bishop buttons of sterling silver showing heads of dogs, game or fowl often give and added individualistic touch of distinction.

Cold Weather Shooting ... A double...breasted coat slightly shorter than knee length, tailored from all wool whipcord... fully lined with alpaca pile giving warmth without bulky weight. The detachable hood ( upper prt of the picture) of the same fabric has a zipper at front, draw string at bottom, to fit securely around head when convertible collar of coat is fastened. Back yoke and hood interlined with oiled silk for extra weather protection ... left, alpaca vest, worn in lieu of coat under garments opposite.

nature's colors for camouflage. Lower bellows pockets have protective snap-fastened flaps to protect contents. Sleeve cuffs can be securely
